Carrie Underwood started singing in public when she was a small child and made her first studio recording at age 13. Carrie has peformed many festivals in a few states, trying to get her record career started. She grew up in Checotah, Oklahoma and has 2 siblings, Shanna and Stephanie.

Carrie performed at numerous festivals and various other shows in Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas, & Tennessee and has been the opening act for "Diamond Rio", "The Wilkinson's", "Exile", " "Gene Watson," Billy Hoffman" and "Earl Thomas Conley". She is a member of First Freewill Baptist Church and yes she sings in the choir.

She was a Honor Student at Checotah High School in Checotah, Oklahoma. She spent a summer as a page for Oklahoma State Representative Bobby Frame. In the summer of 2004, Carrie tried out for American Idol Season 4. After making it through hollywood and many cuts, she was crowned the American Idol on May 25th, 2005.

Her First album, Some Hearts, was released in November of 2005 and is has sold over 8 million copies worldwide. She has won many awards including Grammies for her first debut album.

Her second album is called Carnival Ride and is slated to be released on October 23rd, 2007.

"Idol Gives Back" was the result of a collaboration between American Idol creator Simon Fuller and British writer Richard Curtis. On the March 8, 2007 American Idol results show, Ryan Seacrest announced an initiative to give back to people in poverty in both Africa and the United States (including those affected by Hurricane Katrina). For every vote cast for the April 24, 2007 broadcast, sponsors donated funds to the Charity Projects Entertainment Fund. Richard Curtis and Simon Fuller took the basic premise for the show from the UK based annual charity event Comic Relief, and spent 12 months adapting the concept and re-shaping it for a mainstream American audience. The 2007 event was co-hosted by comedian/talk show host, Ellen DeGeneres.

IDOL GIVES BACK, the historic Emmy Award-winning television event and music celebration airing Wednesday, April 9 (7:30-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX, will raise awareness and funds to benefit six charities. including: the Children's Defense Fund, The Global Fund, Make It Right, Malaria No More, Save The Children, U.S. Programs and the Children's Health Fund.

This year's event, beginning at a special 7:30 PM start time, will be bigger and more ambitious than ever. Robin Williams, Celine Dion, Forest Whitaker, Billy Crystal, Dane Cook, Kiefer Sutherland, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Jennifer Connolly, Elliott Yamin, Fantasia and Amy Adams join previously announced international talent and sports figures Bono, Brad Pitt, Reese Witherspoon, Miley Cyrus, Mariah Carey, Eli Manning, Peyton Manning, Fergie, Chris Daughtry, Carrie Underwood, Annie Lennox, John Legend, Snoop Dogg, Maroon 5, Heart and Gloria Estefan.

During the show, viewers will be able to make donations via toll-free lines and the Internet. Idol Gives Back Foundation charitable causes are also generously supported by corporate partners.
